The Director of Broadcast Engineering is responsible for the high quality installation, operation, and maintenance of all station and network broadcast facilities and equipment including satellite, digital automation, and analog audio systems of our network broadcast center and local stations. Leads and supervises engineering team; includes coordinating management of contract engineers.
Essential Functions:
• Develops work plans and schedules for Engineering projects and resources and oversees the engineering design elements of several projects; develops and implements systems to ensure “Perfection as Routine” for all network hardware and software systems and ensure that corporate and ministry technical objectives for Broadcasting are met
• Oversees the design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of all Broadcast equipment and facilities
• Supervises installations and serves as on-call engineer when needed, available to respond immediately to technical emergencies and work overnight, weekends and holidays and travel to other Company stations or new station areas as needed
• Evaluates new and emerging technologies and prepares strategies for implementing them into current and future installations
• Provides structured analysis and process overview of technical broadcast operations and identifies strategic opportunities to leverage both traditional broadcast technology and mainstream IT systems: ensures that best-of-class technology is employed and that technical solutions are “future-proofed”
• Oversees compliance with all technical aspects of FCC authorizations of Broadcasting in a manner that meets FCC requirements and general good engineering practices
• Coordinates the filing in matters regarding the technical portions of applications to the FCC, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service and F.A.A. as appropriate
• Supervises, encourages and equips the engineering ministry team for the purpose of maximizing each individual’s commitment and contribution to the mission
• Establishes and maintains broadcast technical standards and practices
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field or combination of education & experience
• Five (5) years managerial experience with proven experience managing projects
• Five (5) years, recent network level broadcast engineering experience
• Five (5) years AM/FM audio and RF radiobroadcast engineering experience, digital, and audio equipment installation and maintenance.

• Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations, applicable electrical, mechanical, structural and civil engineering methods helpful.
