****       A RADIO CHIEF ENGINEER is needed in VARIOUS LOCATIONS NATIONWIDE. Successful candidates will possess a strong background in RF, IT and studio maintenance. Knowledge of FCC regulations and ability to troubleshoot to the component level are a must. Prerequisites include at least two years formal training in electronics, the ability to be on call 24/7, can lift 50 lbs and work in tight spaces and at least 5 years experience as a Radio Chief Engineer. Objectives: Find solutions to speed-up (thanks to candidate field experience) the development of this French company’s VSB/QAM SIP product targeting the terrestrial digital TV reception in the USA, which is based on the VSB technology. Primary Responsibilities: Within the development team, you will: Team up with groups of engineers working on VSB and E-VSB technology; Define system architecture of a VSB receiver; Specify equalizer architecture and level of performances to reach; Define and elaborate the specific test suites to conduct; Ensure excellent level of demodulator performance that fit customers’ expectation; Assist the sales and market development staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs; Prepare detailed product specifications; Provide customers support on company’s SIP product that embeds VSB technology. Some international travel may be required. Minimum Requirements: 4-5+ years experience in development and deployment of VSB products. Experience: Proven experience in VSB technology. System knowledge of a VSB based digital receiver and familiar with ATSC digital modulation technologies (QAM, VSB).  ****       AN RF MAINTENANCE ENGINEER is needed in LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this individual must have extensive knowledge of RF, and feel comfortable in the ability to test, repair and operate UHF/VHF transmitters, as well as microwave STL/TSL links and facilities. The ability to identify, develop and complete projects is also required along with daily technical team-oriented communication skills. The position will perform required FCC monitoring, installation, testing, evaluation, documentation, repair, calibration and CAD work to properly operate and safely maintain UHF and VHF transmitters, as well as various ENG receive sites located throughout southern California. Must have knowledge of IT systems, and understand FCC rules and regulations as well as digital transmission modulation techniques. RF engineers with backgrounds in other fields besides broadcasting will be considered with appropriate skills, experience, and previous responsibilities. Experience setting up and running remote broadcasts using ISDN and POTS codec and RPU equipment. Experience with Ku band VSAT state radio network distribution.  ----        A FIELD SUPPORT ENGINEERS is needed in WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA. Description: Position will support the maintenance and build of Local Collection Facilities across the United States. Position requires proficiency in both ATSC & NTSC RF receive systems and their various components, MPEG compression systems, as well as Telco fiber systems. General knowledge of baseband audio/video, digital audio/video, satellite transmission systems, computer networking systems (Ethernet, Serial, TCP/IP, etc.) electrical power systems (AC/DC) and Telco/data collocation protocols is necessary. Individual is required to perform RF signal surveys to FCC specifications, investigate interference issues, provide and implement recommendations for resolution. Position requires inspection, validation and repair of baseband and SDI audio/video installations and drawings. Will troubleshoot video and audio impairments to component level, have strong knowledge of ATSC & NTSC signal components and specifications, and various ANSI/SMPTE protocols. Ability to fabricate and label cables is required. In addition, individual is required to perform field commissioning and maintenance of MPEG compression and multiplexing equipment. Position will assist in troubleshooting vendor owned POTS, ASI, DS-3 and Optical transmission circuits. Position requires very heavy travel, usually working overnight maintenance support and ability to work outdoors on tall buildings in adverse weather. This position is responsible for insuring coordination of projects between the Broadcasting Operation and Engineering at the studios and the Technology Group. This position is accountable for installation and maintenance of hardware and software systems at the studios including Broadcast Audio/Video equipment. This position will also support all backup and recovery functions associated with the various systems as part of the Broadcasting processes. The position interacts internally with all the West Coast offices, with Corporate Technology and with Technology and Broadcast Operation vendors externally. Primary Responsibilities: Work as a team with the Engineering, Broadcast Operations, and Production/Post-Production staff to ensure proper: Installation and maintenance of hardware and software systems. Implementation and maintenance of system interfaces between the various modules in the Broadcast Operations processes. Definition and implementation of the Pilat IBMS modules related to the operations of broadcast processes including any future implementation of systems requiring an interface to the current systems. Maintain hardware and software that support on air operations and VOD applications. Support training the Technology, Broadcast and Operations staff in the areas of broadcast processes and operations of the studios. Create and maintain systems documentation and schematics detailing the setup and configuration of the systems implemented at the studios. Support the Engineering staff in defining and implementing a disaster recovery plan. Ensure that all back up processes are executed on schedule and that adequate testing occurs to verify that backups can be restored when needed. Develop specifications as required for any modifications to the various system components of the overall broadcasting workflow to handle new or changing business requirements. Work with the Technology staff to: Provide support and user assistance in resolving desktop or network connectivity issues experienced by studio personnel. Assist in determining network connectivity and application requirements. Act as liaison to outside contractors and developers as directed by Technology management. Participate with the other Technology groups in investigating and testing new technologies that can benefit the Company by providing operational cost savings, increased efficiency, enhanced communication, etc. Maintain the Computer Room, Wiring Closets, and associated connectivity equipment to ensure service levels and connectivity. Assure compliance with IT and Entertainment Group policies and procedures when meeting the obligations of assigned priorities. Assure proper installation and registration of hardware and software with respective manufacturers and publishers. Keep abreast of trends in the industry to ensure awareness of technical developments, applicable to the Company's IT environment. Requirements: Candidate must have IT and project coordination experience and the desire to attain skills in project management and be willing to grow and adapt to the fast nature of a multi-channel broadcast operation, production and post production environments. Knowledge of audio/video applications including formats, transcoding, editing, storage and asset management is highly desired. College degree in a related discipline preferred. Minimum of two years of experience supporting hardware and interfacing with Audio / Video equipment required.
